The David Craft Institute is accredited by Gem-A London as an ATC (Accredited teaching centre) & GAPP (Gem-A Approved Practical Provider), to provide their courses and exams, level Foundation or Diploma .

Gem-A theory classes

As an accredited centre (ATC) you have the possibility to perform the theory courses at David Craft.

  • Gemmology Foundation: lasts 4 months 1/2 with 1 day per week taught, 100 hours of guided learning, 100 hours of self-directed learning and a final exam session, giving you access to the Gem-A certificate. (Max number of seats 4)
  • Gemmology Diploma: lasts 4 months 1/2 with 2 days per week taught, 200 hours of guided learning, 200 hours of self-directed learning and a final exam session, giving you access to the Gem-A diploma. (Max number of seats 4)

On each level, you discover a wide variety of stones – you receive a theoretical support, a workbook, a set of tools for your analysis, as well as 20 personal study stones. An online session is also available for you to follow the course independently, doing exercises and periodic assessments to prepare yourself for the final exams.

ATC Gem-A

Gem-A practical classes

As an accredited GAPP centre you have the opportunity to perform the practical courses at David Craft.

  • Foundation lab class: consisting mainly of practical exercises accompanied by theory, over a period of 3 days, 6 hours per day.
  • Diploma lab class: consisting mainly of practical exercises accompanied by theory, over a period of 5 days, 6 hours per day.

We have a wide variety of stones, analysis machines, gemmological instruments, Gem-A portable instruments, various types of microscopes, as well as a library rich in information and illustrations.

Gem-A Exams

As an accredited Gem-A centre you have the possibility to perform the examinations at David Craft:

  • Foundation exam: takes place over one day, with a first theoretical/practical part in the morning and a second theoretical part in the afternoon.
  • Diploma exam: takes place over two days, with the first day having a theoretical part in the morning and another one in the afternoon. The second day is dedicated to the practical exam, either in the morning or in the afternoon.
